Abstract
The Contemporary World is a course pack designed to develop students' understanding of globalization and its multifaceted impact on societies, institutions, and individuals. Organized into six modules, the material examines the historical foundations and major theories of globalization, the structures that sustain global interactions, regional and international dynamics, the globalization of ideas and culture, global population and migration, and contemporary global challenges, including sustainable development, food security, and global citizenship. Through a combination of lessons, learning activities, module assessments, and reflective exercises, the course encourages critical thinking and meaningful engagement with current global issues. By integrating theoretical perspectives with contemporary realities, the course aims to equip learners with the knowledge, analytical skills, and global awareness necessary to understand the complexities of an interconnected world and to become responsible and informed members of the global community.
