Abstract
Description
The National Service Training Program (NSTP), through the Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS), provides students with meaningful opportunities to develop civic responsibility, volunteerism, leadership, and commitment to community service. CWTS 1 introduces students to the principles and practices of responsible community engagement and prepares them for meaningful participation in community-based activities.
This Coursepack serves as a guide for students as they learn about community needs, cultural sensitivity, ethical participation, volunteerism, and sustainable development. It combines discussions, activities, community-based exercises, and reflection tasks to help students connect classroom learning with real-life community experiences.
The Coursepack is organized around three stages: Preparing for Community Engagement, Experiencing the Community, and Reflecting on Community Needs. It also integrates the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to help students understand how local community actions contribute to broader sustainable development efforts.
Through CWTS 1, students are encouraged to approach communities with respect, humility, empathy, and a willingness to learn. Ultimately, this Coursepack aims to develop responsible citizens, compassionate leaders, and active community partners who are committed to service and nation-building.
