    Perception on the application of differentiated instruction and academic performance in mathematics

    Differentiated instruction is an instructional approach that customizes teaching methods, content, and learning activities to address the diverse needs, abilities, and interest of students within the same classroom. The objectives of this research is to determine the relationship between students' perception of the application of differentiated instruction and their academic performance in mathematics at Davao del Sur State College. This research adopts a quantitative non-experimental research design, utilizing a descriptive correlation technique. The findings indicate a significant relationship between students' perceptions of differentiated instruction and the academic performance of students studying Bachelor of Science in Education (BSED) mathematics. However, the correlation analysis reveals a negative correlation coefficient, suggesting a negligible correlation between these two variables. It's worth noting that the students' perception of differentiated instruction in mathematics is rated as high, and their academic performance in mathematics is considered satisfactory.

    Yield and quality analysis of bioethanol produced from waste coconut water (Cocos nucifera L.) and sugarcane molasses under different fermentation conditions

    Bioethanol production involves materials containing sugar to be converted into alcohol. It is a process that requires fermentation, where active organisms are utilized to break down sugar and turns them into alcohol. The purpose of this study was to determine the ideal conditions in the fermentation of waste coconut water and sugarcane molasses with initial pH level between 4.0 - 5.0 for six days in order to produce good quality of bioethanol. the experimental samples were laid in complete randomized design (CRD) with three treatments, namely; T 1 (Aerobic), T2 (Anaerobic) and T3 (Aerobic-anaerobic) and each was replicated four times. The parameters assessed were pH level after fermentation, alcohol content (%), ethanol content (%) of the bioethanol. The gathered data was analyzed using One-way ANOVA and LSD at 5% level of significance. Based on the results, T3 obtained the highest mean pH level of 3.15 after fermentation and alcohol content of 1.6%, followed by T2 with a mean pH level of 3.0 and an alcohol content of 1.1%. T1 obtained the lowest mean pH level of 2.92 after fermentation and an alcohol content of 0.4%. The results revealed further that T3 produced highest percentage of ethanol content of 24.4% and yielding 2.8% bioethanol, followed by T2 obtaining 16.4% ethanol content and yielding 1.8% bioethanol. Lastly, T1 got the lowest ethanol content of 3.01% and yielding 1% bioethanol among the tree treatments. The ANOVA results revealed that there's a high significant difference in terms on the pH level after fermentation and alcohol content (%) among the means of the three treatments. Generally, based on the results, the researcher concludes that, T3 (Aerobic-anaerobic) is the most effective condition in the fermentation process of waste coconut water (Cocos nucifera L.) and sugarcane molasses utilizing Saccharomyces cerevisiae for bioethanol production.

    The effects of student's interest to their mathematics performance

    Determining the relationship between student's interest in mathematics and their performance in the subject in grade 7 at Manual National High School in Kiblawan, Davao del Sur, is the main objective of this study. Pertaining to the 2022-2023 academic, 60 students from Manual National High School participated in the survey. A survey checklist questionnaire administered face-to-face served as the tool. The researcher took ownership of the used instrument. The following conclusions were drawn from the use of descriptive statistics and correlation tools. Students at Manual National High School in grade 7 frequently show interest in their mathematical performance. The results indicated that we should reject our null hypothesis. The motivation to learn mathematics and the quality of mathematics instruction have a substantial impact on math performance. Peer assisted learning, the motivation to learn mathematics, and the quality of mathematics instruction all have a 3.87 degree of relationship that is frequently positive.

    Nutritional and sensory attributes of banana coffee produced from cavendish banana (Musa cavendishii) flesh at different maturity stage

    This study was conducted to utilized and process rejected cavendish banana fruits into coffee. Sensory evaluation (Aroma, Texture, Color, and General Acceptability), Nutritional Analysis (Protein, Fat, Fiber, Ash, and carbohydrates), and Microbial Analysis in terms of bacterial and fungi count were performed to assess the quality and characteristics of the banana coffee and were analyzed using T-test. In the overall rating, T2 got higher mean rating percentage of Aroma (3.26%), Texture (4.2%), Color (4.106%), and the General Acceptability parameter with 3.36%. For proximate analysis, T1 got higher content percentage in terms of protein (3.742%), Fiber (2.21%), and Ash (5.5%), and T2 for carbohydrates (86.8%) and Fat (5.6%). In microbial analysis, both treatments got equal bacterial count (total plate count) of <1.1 cfu/g however, T2 contained less yeast and molds count (fungi count) of 4.7 x 10 (2) cfu/g present in the composite sample. Based on the T-test result, only aroma difference was not statistically significant while texture, color, and general acceptability showed significant difference. Hence, this study still needs more modification in order to enhance the quality of processing cavendish banana into coffee.

    Conductive effect of ferric chloride (FeCl3) on carbonized Chloris barbata Sw. stem via activation-carbonization-pyrolysis method

    This study was conducted to determine the conductive effect of ferric chloride (FeCl3) on carbonized Chloris barbata sw. stem via the activation-carbonization-pyrolysis method. The study was accomplished utilizing a Completely Randomized Design, which comprised five (5) treatments and three (3) replications. The activated carbon produced was made using C. barbata stem and ferric chloride (FeCl3) at different molar concentrations. Control -no FeCl3(T1), 1 molar concentration (T5). The study was carried out to determine the electrical conductivity, surface characteristics in terms of pore and elemental composition, surface area, and the cost analysis of the activated carbon. The data were analyzed using One-Way ANOVA of variance at 1% and 5% significance levels, Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Energy Disperse X-ray Spectroscopy (EDX), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET), and Fourier Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). The results revealed that the electrical conductivity of all treatments was shown to be statistically highly significant. According to the findings, T5 (4 M) registered the highest electrical conductivity at 2677.06 x 10-6 μS/m. It was also found to display micropore structure and various organic and inorganic functionalities, register relatively low surface area, and more acceptable production cost per unit mass.

    Adsorption of methylene blue by magnetized achiote (Bixa orellana) pericarp ash: Effect of pH and kinetics

    Wastewater management has long been a significant issue for society. In the Philippines, achiote pericarp is often considered an agricultural waste. It is typically left in open fields or burned in the open air near the trees where they are harvested. This study explores the potential use of this waste material (achiote pericarp ash, APA) in removing dye from liquid solutions. To improve the adsorption capacity of APA, it is necessary to incorporate Fe3O4 into it. This will enhance its ability to effectively adsorb Methylene blue solution. To address this, APA had been impregnated with Fe3O4 nanoparticles to produce magnetized APA (MAPA). The APA used in this study was sourced from the farmlands of J. P. Laurel Malungon, Sarangani, Philippines. An adsorption experiment was thoroughly conducted, investigating the effects of pH and kinetic changes. The MB adsorption process was found to fit with a pseudo-quadratic model, with maximum adsorption observed at pH 10. The identification of functional groups presents before and after magnetization was conducted using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Among theme were -OH (intramolecular H-bond), O=OH (phosphorus oxoacid), -CO-CH3 (ketone), -OH (primary alcohol), and -SiCl3 (silicon compounds). These findings encourage farmers to reuse agricultural waste as a valuable product. Future related research could investigate the use of a different dye color or another type of biomass. Ultimately, this investigation provides significant knowledge about the potential role of agricultural by-products for wastewater treatment processes.

    Smartphone utilization and mathemattics performance of junior high school students

    Smartphones have been extensively utilized by students in the context of mathematics education and it influences their academic achievement in the subject. These study assessed the smartphone utilization and mathematics performance of junior high school students at San Isidro National High School, utilizing descriptive-comparative research. A total of 153 respondents completed a survey questionnaire to measure smartphone utilization, while mathematics performance was evaluated based on first quarter grades in Math. Data analysis involved mean, Spearman's rho, Independent Samples Mann-Whitney U Test, and Kruskal Wallis Test. It was found that students had a moderate level of smartphone utilization. At 0.05 level of significance, it was found that there is no significant difference in the utilization of smartphone when classified by sex and type of smartphone. Thus, there is no significant relationship between smartphone utilization and mathematics performance of junior high school students.

    Productive struggle in learning mathematics and problem solving skills of senior high school students

    This world is cycles of mathematics where living organisms lived and stay. This research study used a complete enumeration research design and the instruments that were used by the researcher in gathering data dealt with the students' productive struggle in learning mathematics. The study was conducted with a total of 54 students from all Grade 11 and Grade 12 students of Marber National High School of STEM-STRAND students in Senior High School Department who are currently enrolled for the academic year 2022-2023. Results revealed that Grade 11 and Grade 12 STEM-STRAND students' level of Productive Struggle in Learning Mathematics is high with an overall mean of 3.68. There is no significant correlation between spatial skills and the problem-based learning approach, learning style and spatial skills, numerical factors and the problem-based learning approach, and learning style and numerical factors. It was found out that the Grade 11 and Grade 12 STEM-STRAND students of Davao del Sur State College possessed a weak level of mathematical ability, intend to choose STEM which is a study track that provides math related courses. The school administrators may provide plans and intervention in the issue of mathematical ability and also provide career guidance to support students on choosing their intended study track.

    Factors affecting working student's time management and academic performance of education students

    The main purpose of the study seek to look for the relationship between factors affecting working student's time management and academic performance of education students in Davao del Sur State College particularly the third-year working students. The study was conducted among 37 working students of Davao del Sur for the academic year 2022-2023. A self-made research instrument was utilized and a pilot study was conducted and documented through Google form. The pilot study helps the researcher to assess the efficacy of research instruments for use in quantitative research. Using correlation tools and descriptive statistics, the following findings were obtained in the study. Results of the study revealed that there is one among the factors that we reject our null hypothesis. This means that there is significant relationship between factors affecting working student's time management and academic performance of education students. The degree of relationship between factor's affecting working student's time management and academic performance is obtained 0.004 it has a low positive correlation.

    Academics workload pressure band schoolwork performance of education students

    Students have an abundance of responsibilities and duties that compete for their time and attention inside the intricate tapestry of academic life. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between academic workload pressure and schoolwork performance education students at Davao del Sur State College. A study was conducted on 268 education students using stratified random sampling and in-person surveys. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze differences in workload pressure and schoolwork performance across demographics. ANOVA was used to analyze differences and Pearson correlation coefficient was used to examine the relationship between workload pressure and schoolwork performance. Respondents perceived academics workload pressure at a moderate level and reported high schoolwork performance . There were no significant differences in workload pressure based on gender or course, but a significant difference was observed according to year level. Similarly, no significant differences in schoolwork performance were found across gender, course, or year level. Additionally, no significant relationship was detected between academic workload pressure and schoolwork performance. This study provides insight into the demographic profile ,academic workload pressure, and schoolwork performance of education students at Davao del sur State College. While workload pressure varied by year level ,it did not significantly impact schoolwork performance. Further research is needed to explore additional factors influencing workload pressure and strategies to enhance schoolwork performance among education students.
