Item Lived experiences of Filipino English as Second Language (ESL) teachers in teaching Asian non-native English speakersCatindoy, Lyn Jhel James (Davao del Sur State College, 2024-01)This qualitative study delves into the experiences of Filipino ESL teachers in Digos City, Philippines, as they teach Asian non-native English speakers. Through interview with 8 teachers, themes like Pedagogical Encounter, Linguistic Diversity, and Conscious Dialogue are explored, revealing challenges and strategies in language instruction. The findings emphasize the significance of culturally responsive teaching practices and respectful communication to foster cross-cultural understanding. Moreover, common English proficiency mistakes among Asian learners are identified, alongside effective teaching strategies like Engagement Exercise and Multimodal learning. The study offers insight for ESL practitioners and policymakers to improve language education.Item Poetry reading strategies and comprehension skills of grade 9 SPA studentsCamat, Lovely Mae M. (Davao del Sur State College, 2024-05)The research was intended to determine the relationship between poetry reading strategies and comprehension skills among the grade 9 SPA students at Digos City National High School. An instrument that was modified was used to collect data from 122 respondents using a correlational approach. The findings showed that students use a very high degree of reading methods in terms of engagement in the poetry discussions and proficiency in reading comprehension. Meanwhile, the analysis skills in poetry comprehension, understanding, and interpreting poetic language were at a high level. However, no significant relationships were found with other strategies and skills.Item Factors influencing online shopping in agribusiness related products in selected Higher Education Institution (HEI's) Digos CityAbrigana, Iren Joy B. (Davao del Sur State College, 2024-05)The aim of this study was to ascertain the level of factors influencing online shopping among students in Davao del Sur State College and other higher education institution (HEI's) Digos City. From October to December 2023, Factors influencing online shopping among students in Davao del Sur State College, and HEI's in Digos City in terms of: Convenience, Time saving and Website design, using a descriptive and correlational research design. A modified survey questionnaire was used to survey 186 respondents from the different schools. The data collected was analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings indicated that in terms of convenience the study has a high rate, and when it comes to website design the level of factors influencing online shopping among students has a high rate this means that students highly value the efficiency through online shopping. Furthermore, the data revealed that there is significant difference among students in Davao del Sur State and other Higher Education Institution (HEI's) Digos College based on their socio-demographic profile. All p-values are all less than the 0.05 level of significance. Thus, fail to reject Ho. Moreover, the p-value age (p=0.462) gender identity (p=0.592) school (p=0.228) course (p=0.588) civil status (p= 0.953) ethnicity (p=0.017) which is less than 0.05 level of significance.
