Item Language anxiety and oral communication skills of BSED English major studentsDela Peña, Ghy Ceazar Ian C. (Davao del Sur State College, 2025)This study was conducted in the regional and provincial offices of PhilHealth, within Davao Region specifically those that are subjected to quota-based performance matrix. The respondents were rank and file employees notwithstanding age, family status, sex, monthly income, tenure, and job position. Stratified random sampling was used in this study and data last March 2025 through structured survey questionnaires to figure out the perceived difficulty of stress, perception on stress indicators, work-related basic need satisfaction and coping strategies to stress of the respondents. Employees are on their productive age, and are predominantly female with college degree, and married. They agree that they are stressed by organizational behavior but not by pressure from colleagues. Respondents are satisfied with their work-related basic needs, such as autonomy, competence and relatedness needs, and they always applied positive coping strategies and were found to occasionally practice negative coping strategies to work-related stresses. For more efficient and highly performing employees, stress should be addressed to maintain healthy psychological and mental well-being. This will lead to a much-improved delivery of services and customer relations. Continuing education to develop the well-being of employees and increased knowledge and skills in handling job related stresses and work-related basic needs is recommended.Item Inventory of millipedes (Myriapoda: Diplopoda) in Davao del State CollegeBanzon, Klint Matthew D. (Davao del Sur State College, 2025-08)This study presents an inventory of millipedes (Myriapoda: Diplopoda) within the Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) campus to address the prevalent lack of knowledge and misconceptions among students, who often misidentify millipedes as hairy caterpillars and mistakenly regard them as harmful pests. An intensive survey method was employed, utilizing both handpicking and pitfall trapping techniques. Eight samples stations were established along a 540-meter transect line, with each 10x10 meter plot surveyed twice weekly over a one-month period. Pitfall traps were deployed overnight for 24 hours, followed by a 5-minute active search at each station. A total of 2,117 millipede specimens were collected and identified, representing three species: Orthomorpha coarctata, Trigoniulus corallinus, and Thyropygus sp Diversity indices revealed a Simpson's Index (D) of 0.6245 and a Shannon Diversity Index of 0.5661 which indicates a low biodiversity. O. coarctata emerged as the dominant species, comprising 74.96% of the total population and recorded in all sampling stations. (This research aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 15 (SDG 15: Life on Land), which emphasizes the importance of conserving terrestrial biodiversity. Limited biodiversity is shown by the low diversity index seen on campus, most likely as a result of habitat disturbance). These findings highlight the ecological presence and adaptability of millipede species on campus and emphasize the need for increased awareness and education about their ecological role to reduce harmful misconceptions.Item Graduate employability and work performance: A tracer study for Bachelor of Secondary Education major in ScienceBastatas, Neco C. (Davao del Sur State College, 2025-06)This study investigated the employability and work performance of Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSED) Science graduates from Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) from 2019-2021. A quantitative-descriptive design was employed, utilizing a structured survey questionnaire administered to 80 graduates and their employers. The study revealed that graduates possess high levels of employability skills, particularly in interpersonal skills, adaptability, communication, time management, and problem-solving. Employers also rated their work performance highly, especially in technical knowledge, meeting organizational expectations, and task execution. Notably, no significant differences were found in employability outcomes based on demographic factors, suggesting that skills and experience play a greater role in job success.
