    Impact of reading motivation and attitude on the reading comprehension:

    Reading comprehension is a crucial skill; unfortunately, Filipino students rank low. Various factors contribute to the decline in reading motivation globally, nationally and locally. However, improving reading materials and motivation/attitude can address students' reading challenges. This study sought to determine the relationship among reading motivation, reading attitude, and reading comprehension of the Grade 6 students in the public elementary schools of the Matanao II district. Three research instruments (adopted and contextualized) were used to gather data from the 228 Grade 6 students from different public elementary schools. Using the Mean, Pearson r, and Regression Analysis in analyzing the data, the key findings are as follows: the learners had shown high reading motivation in terms of curiosity, competition and challenge but very high for recognition and involvement. Students have shown a strong reading attitude where all of the indicators, comfort, intellectual value, practical value, and linguistic value were described by the students as high but low in anxiety. With regard to reading comprehension level, students have shown fairly satisfactory levels. A significant relationship was found between reading motivation and reading comprehension of learners. Also, students possess a high reading attitude significantly related to their reading comprehension. Regarding reading motivation, challenge and recognition significantly influenced the students' reading comprehension performance. However, only anxiety as an indicator of reading attitude significantly influences the learners' reading comprehension. Lastly, a researcher-designed reading program should be implemented to capitalize on students' motivation, teachers should be trained to cater to diverse student needs, workshops for professional development should be organized, parental support should be encouraged, and student engagement should be fostered through challenges and discussions. Future research should explore underlying factors and interventions to enhance comprehension skills while leveraging students' motivation and attitude toward reading.

    Resources and infrastructure in poultry farming in Matanao, Davao del Sur

    The main focus of the study was to determine the resources and infrastructure in poultry farming. The study was conducted with 15 registered poultry farming in Matanao, Davao del Sur. The result disclosed that majority of the respondents aged 41-60 years old, males, married. The result implied that in the poultry production type, it is evident that all 15 respondents are engaged in broilers/meat production and the number of years in poultry farming, the distribution is notable for its concentration in the 8 to 10 years range, with half of the respondents falling within this category. The resources and infrastructure of the poultry farming has no significant difference between the business profile in terms of a number of farmer, thus the null hypothesis was accepted. The substantial majority (86%) rely on loans, and a smaller portion (13%) access credit through cooperatives and 93.3% of respondents reporting this as their primary source of financial support. In terms of the types of feeds used, the data indicate that all respondent (100%) rely on commercially feeds and (100%) relies on water for their poultry farming operations and the duration of water testing, all respondents, again represented by a frequency of 15 and a percentage of 100%, conducted tests for a fixed period of 1 hour only and regarding the available mode of transport, it is noteworthy that all respondents, exclusively rely on open trucks for poultry transportation.

    Working memory and mathematics performance of STEM senior high school students

    Working memory played a pivotal role in students' academic progress and achievement, particularly in realm of mathematics. This descriptive-correlational study aimed to investigate the potential impact of students' working memory on their performance in STEM-related subject, specifically focusing on mathematics, within the context of Matanao national High School. Employing a complete enumeration sampling method, the study gathered data from 167 respondents comprising grade 11 and 12 STEM senior high school students during the academic year 2023-2024. These students willingly participated in this study. The findings unveiled a nuanced picture of students' working memory capacities. While the analysis indicated a moderate level of verbal working memory among the participants, it showcased a notably higher proficiency in visuospatial working memory. Moreover, delving into the relationship between students' working memory and their performance in mathematics, the study uncovered a significant correlation between working memory and mathematics performance of STEM senior high school students of Matanao National High School. These results underscored the critical role of working memory in shaping students' academic achievements, particularly in mathematics. By emphasizing the importance of nurturing and enhancing students' working memory abilities, educators potentially fostered improved performance and learning outcomes in mathematics and related STEM fields.
