Item The use of Newman error analysis for word problem involving linear equationMontes, Jhelyn Niña T. (Davao del Sur State College, 2024-07)In Mathematics education, Newman Error Analysis is a valuable tool for understanding the complexities of linear equation word problem, focusing on the cognitive process behind students' error to enhance problem- solving abilities. The study investigated Grade 7 students at Manuel Francisco C. Ramos Sr. National High School to solve word problems with linear equations containing single variable during the SY: 2023-2024, quantitatively analyzing common errors in a 10-item objective test taken by 43 students. Using descriptive correlational statistics, the study found that the errors frequently occurred in transformation, process skills, comprehension, encoding and reading. The study revealed a strong negative correlation, which indicate that students who made more errors in a certain type of errors in Newman Error Analysis also demonstrated lower proficiency in solving word problem. This suggest that addressing these varies types of errors, especially in the transformation errors, may gave teachers an idea and let them use a diverse teaching technique in Mathematics, including hands-on activities and real-word application, may improve students' proficiency.Item Perception on the application of differentiated instruction and academic performance in mathematicsLacia, Sherie Mae B. (Davao del Sur State College, 2024-02)Differentiated instruction is an instructional approach that customizes teaching methods, content, and learning activities to address the diverse needs, abilities, and interest of students within the same classroom. The objectives of this research is to determine the relationship between students' perception of the application of differentiated instruction and their academic performance in mathematics at Davao del Sur State College. This research adopts a quantitative non-experimental research design, utilizing a descriptive correlation technique. The findings indicate a significant relationship between students' perceptions of differentiated instruction and the academic performance of students studying Bachelor of Science in Education (BSED) mathematics. However, the correlation analysis reveals a negative correlation coefficient, suggesting a negligible correlation between these two variables. It's worth noting that the students' perception of differentiated instruction in mathematics is rated as high, and their academic performance in mathematics is considered satisfactory.Item The effects of student's interest to their mathematics performanceCaballes, Danibie V. (Davao del Sur State College, 2024-01)Determining the relationship between student's interest in mathematics and their performance in the subject in grade 7 at Manual National High School in Kiblawan, Davao del Sur, is the main objective of this study. Pertaining to the 2022-2023 academic, 60 students from Manual National High School participated in the survey. A survey checklist questionnaire administered face-to-face served as the tool. The researcher took ownership of the used instrument. The following conclusions were drawn from the use of descriptive statistics and correlation tools. Students at Manual National High School in grade 7 frequently show interest in their mathematical performance. The results indicated that we should reject our null hypothesis. The motivation to learn mathematics and the quality of mathematics instruction have a substantial impact on math performance. Peer assisted learning, the motivation to learn mathematics, and the quality of mathematics instruction all have a 3.87 degree of relationship that is frequently positive.Item Smartphone utilization and mathemattics performance of junior high school studentsSabado, Honey Leen (Davao del Sur State College, 2024)Smartphones have been extensively utilized by students in the context of mathematics education and it influences their academic achievement in the subject. These study assessed the smartphone utilization and mathematics performance of junior high school students at San Isidro National High School, utilizing descriptive-comparative research. A total of 153 respondents completed a survey questionnaire to measure smartphone utilization, while mathematics performance was evaluated based on first quarter grades in Math. Data analysis involved mean, Spearman's rho, Independent Samples Mann-Whitney U Test, and Kruskal Wallis Test. It was found that students had a moderate level of smartphone utilization. At 0.05 level of significance, it was found that there is no significant difference in the utilization of smartphone when classified by sex and type of smartphone. Thus, there is no significant relationship between smartphone utilization and mathematics performance of junior high school students.Item Productive struggle in learning mathematics and problem solving skills of senior high school studentsUgpay, Jemboy G. (Davao del Sur State College, 2024-02)This world is cycles of mathematics where living organisms lived and stay. This research study used a complete enumeration research design and the instruments that were used by the researcher in gathering data dealt with the students' productive struggle in learning mathematics. The study was conducted with a total of 54 students from all Grade 11 and Grade 12 students of Marber National High School of STEM-STRAND students in Senior High School Department who are currently enrolled for the academic year 2022-2023. Results revealed that Grade 11 and Grade 12 STEM-STRAND students' level of Productive Struggle in Learning Mathematics is high with an overall mean of 3.68. There is no significant correlation between spatial skills and the problem-based learning approach, learning style and spatial skills, numerical factors and the problem-based learning approach, and learning style and numerical factors. It was found out that the Grade 11 and Grade 12 STEM-STRAND students of Davao del Sur State College possessed a weak level of mathematical ability, intend to choose STEM which is a study track that provides math related courses. The school administrators may provide plans and intervention in the issue of mathematical ability and also provide career guidance to support students on choosing their intended study track.Item Factors affecting working student's time management and academic performance of education studentsOlanda, Dylene Grace A. (Davao del Sur State College, 2024-01)The main purpose of the study seek to look for the relationship between factors affecting working student's time management and academic performance of education students in Davao del Sur State College particularly the third-year working students. The study was conducted among 37 working students of Davao del Sur for the academic year 2022-2023. A self-made research instrument was utilized and a pilot study was conducted and documented through Google form. The pilot study helps the researcher to assess the efficacy of research instruments for use in quantitative research. Using correlation tools and descriptive statistics, the following findings were obtained in the study. Results of the study revealed that there is one among the factors that we reject our null hypothesis. This means that there is significant relationship between factors affecting working student's time management and academic performance of education students. The degree of relationship between factor's affecting working student's time management and academic performance is obtained 0.004 it has a low positive correlation.Item Working memory and mathematics performance of STEM senior high school studentsSerenio, Niño N. (Davao del Sur State College, 2024)Working memory played a pivotal role in students' academic progress and achievement, particularly in realm of mathematics. This descriptive-correlational study aimed to investigate the potential impact of students' working memory on their performance in STEM-related subject, specifically focusing on mathematics, within the context of Matanao national High School. Employing a complete enumeration sampling method, the study gathered data from 167 respondents comprising grade 11 and 12 STEM senior high school students during the academic year 2023-2024. These students willingly participated in this study. The findings unveiled a nuanced picture of students' working memory capacities. While the analysis indicated a moderate level of verbal working memory among the participants, it showcased a notably higher proficiency in visuospatial working memory. Moreover, delving into the relationship between students' working memory and their performance in mathematics, the study uncovered a significant correlation between working memory and mathematics performance of STEM senior high school students of Matanao National High School. These results underscored the critical role of working memory in shaping students' academic achievements, particularly in mathematics. By emphasizing the importance of nurturing and enhancing students' working memory abilities, educators potentially fostered improved performance and learning outcomes in mathematics and related STEM fields.Item Academics workload pressure band schoolwork performance of education studentsBayking , Shaina Valerie S. (Davao Del Sur State College, 2024-06)Students have an abundance of responsibilities and duties that compete for their time and attention inside the intricate tapestry of academic life. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between academic workload pressure and schoolwork performance education students at Davao del Sur State College. A study was conducted on 268 education students using stratified random sampling and in-person surveys. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze differences in workload pressure and schoolwork performance across demographics. ANOVA was used to analyze differences and Pearson correlation coefficient was used to examine the relationship between workload pressure and schoolwork performance. Respondents perceived academics workload pressure at a moderate level and reported high schoolwork performance . There were no significant differences in workload pressure based on gender or course, but a significant difference was observed according to year level. Similarly, no significant differences in schoolwork performance were found across gender, course, or year level. Additionally, no significant relationship was detected between academic workload pressure and schoolwork performance. This study provides insight into the demographic profile ,academic workload pressure, and schoolwork performance of education students at Davao del sur State College. While workload pressure varied by year level ,it did not significantly impact schoolwork performance. Further research is needed to explore additional factors influencing workload pressure and strategies to enhance schoolwork performance among education students.Item Personal disposition and teacher related factors towards performance in mathematicsDaligdig, Kyla B. (Davao del Sur State College, 2024-06)This study aimed to investigate the correlation between personal disposition and teacher related factors, towards performance in mathematics among grade 10 students at Hagonoy National High School. A quantitative-descriptive correlational study was conducted on a total of 191 students participating in the study, responding to a questionnaire assessing their personal disposition and teacher-related factors. The results showed a significant positive correlation between personal disposition, particularly in terms of interest and study habits, and mathematics performance. However, no significant relationship was found between teacher-related factors (personality traits, teaching skills, institutional materials) and mathematics performance. This suggests that while teacher related factors may not directly correlate with mathematics performance, there exists a positive correlation between personal disposition and mathematics performance. Enhancing students' personal disposition towards mathematics is crucial for improving academic performance. Additionally, the lack of significant correlation with teacher-related factors implies that other variables or factors beyond teachers' characteristics and classroom practices may play a more influential role in determining students' academic performance in mathematics. Therefore, a comprehensive understanding of these factors is essential for improving mathematics education beyond traditional measures of teacher quality and classroom effectiveness.Item Android-based postharvest grading classification of cavendish banana using deep learning and internet of thingCaminade, Lilynn S. (Davao del Sur State College, 2024-06)This study is combined deep learning and the Internet of things, which used of microcontroller and android devices. An application and weight machine, may be risks of mistakes and consistent of grade classification result of image processing and difficulties in obtaining the weight value of the Cavendish banana. The Rapid Application Development is the help to established an application with weight measurements to capture images and classify the grade classification of the banana. The pretrained model using the teachable machine. The datasets gathered and captured the banana based on the postharvest grading classification: Class A, Class B, Cluster and Totally Reject. The android app is capable of captured image, classify the grading classification of the Cavendish banana with weight detected with the help of weight scale machine do perform and also the captured images and classify of the postharvest grading classification of the banana with weight measurement of the banana and displayed the information on the application. This study contributes to the modern-farming technology in the industries of agriculture and manufacturing to helps workers fasten the performance and productions and along with adapting new technology into agri-technology and also to the economy be more imports and exports globally and this study helps the agri-farming and plantation industries and in importing and exporting quality products globally.
