Item Credit access from microfinance institutions on farm performance among small-scale mango farmers in Davao del SurGirasol, Charnilyn Mae C. (Davao del Sur State College, 2025-06)The research sought to assess the influence of credit accessibility from microfinance institutions on small-scale mango farmers in Davao del Sur. A cross-sectional and descriptive research approach was employed to evaluate the objectives of the study. The study was initially conducted with 348 respondents selected by stratified random sampling. The statistical analysis, employing methods such as frequency distribution, mean, standard deviation, and regression, revealed that the majority of small-scale mango producers were aged between 36 and 51, primarily male, married, and possessed high school diplomas. The majority consist of 4 to 6 household members, who are Cebuano, and possess 1 to 2 hectares of agricultural property. All farmers solicited a loan, with the majority obtaining cash credit and repaying it in currency. Almost all were subjected to interest charges and required to provide collateral to obtain credit. Most small-scale farmers obtained loans from microfinance institutions, however, only fifty percent of this population invested the funds in mango cultivation. Better access to capital and higher productivity per hectare were two of the most important economic benefits. The information gathered showed that the degrees of participation and cooperation among small-scale mango growers were seen as modest. Moreover, there was a significant association between economic advantages and financial performance, as well as a notable association between engagement/collaboration and the financial performance of small-scale farmers. Further, all small-scale producers identified climate change, pests, and diseases as problems encountered in mango production. Based on the results, it is highly recommended to establish comprehensive support systems combing education, technology, and financial assistance to aid small-scale farmers adapt to climate change, pests, and diseases. To provide farmers with more authority and make them more resilient, government agencies, agricultural organizations, and financial institutions need to work together.Item Evaluation of corporate social responsibility programs among small-scale sugarcane farmers in Davao del SurComilang, Michelle M. (Davao del Sur State College, 2025-06)The study aimed to assess which corporate social responsibility program is effective in improving the sugarcane production among small-scale farmers in Davao del Sur. The study utilized a descriptive-qualitative survey research design and conducted in the province of Davao del Sur. The study administered survey questionnaires to the selected 182 sugarcane farmers and 8 representatives (chairpersons/general managers) from organization with the help of stratified random sampling techniques. The study also utilized descriptive statistics, frequency distribution, and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) as the statistical tools of the study. The result showed that small-scale sugarcane farmers and the organizations are typically informed about and satisfied with Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. Nonetheless, insufficient financial resources impede their ability to fully benefit. The farming organizations exhibit a democratic leadership approach and equitable gender representation, perhaps enhancing marketing initiatives. Although both farmers and organizations convey contentment, organizations exhibit a greater degree of satisfaction due to their increased involvement in program implementation. Effective corporate social responsibility programs include livelihood support, skills development, improved agricultural methods, and market accessibility. Based on the findings, the Sugar Regulatory Administration could enhance its monitoring and evaluation to ensure that growers derive maximum benefit from these programs. Enhancing awareness and increasing the accessibility of financial support could alleviate the resource limitations encountered by both farmers and organizations.Item Development of fishpond automated fish feeder system prototype with GSM notificationEnanoria, Janea Rose L. (Davao del Sur State College, 2024)Fish farmers rely on agriculture as their primary source of income, so they are looking for ways to produce higher quality of fish. Effective methods can help produce a lot of aquaculture products. The study aimed to develop a fishpond automated fish feeder system prototype with GSM notification for adult tilapia fish, addressing the persistent challenges of inconsistent feeding and insufficient awareness of water conditions. The system successfully monitors the status of water, including pH using the pH sensor and water temperature using the water temperature sensor, it also monitors the feed level in the tank using ultrasonic sensor and the time of feeding using real-time-clock (RTC). The study made it ideal for fish farmers. This reveals that using the prototype greatly enhances the agriculture field's performance, enabling the fish farmers to maintain stable growing conditions and the growth of their tilapia fish, as well as the successful sending of the readings from the sensor through SMS notification. Above all, the implementation of the fishpond automated fish feeder system prototype with GSM notification was successful in providing a convenient way for fish farmers to monitor their fish.Item Automated misting and android-based monitoring system for oyster mushroom (Pleurotus SP.) productionCabrera, Cedie Vince E. (Davao del Sur State College, 2024-06)This study was conducted to maintain optimal temperature and humidity, which is crucial for oyster mushroom growth; otherwise, it could impede mushroom development. An automated misting and Android-based monitoring system was developed to address this challenge. Other studies have used an automated mister; however, system monitoring is unavailable. Davao del Sur State College mushroom facility relies entirely on environmental temperature and humidity. The findings are as follows: A DHT11 sensor was used to read the temperature and humidity within a 5cm range from the sensor, spray mist when the DHT11 sensor detects a temperature of 28 degrees celsius and 72% relative humidity, HC04 Ultra-Sonic Sensor is used for water refill automation when the water reaches 7cm away from it, display humidity, temperature, and water level at 5 second intervals, and generate a graph based on average temperature, humidity, and water level calculated per month. The result of the study contributes to the agricultural aspects, specifically in mushroom farming, hence decreasing the farmer's workload and increasing the harvest yield, farming automation, and academic research. The research outcome is a foundation for new studies leading to a better understanding of farming with a more enhanced system for a better farming yield.
